Campus

The Appalachian campus is a welcome combination of wooded pathways, some of the most sophisticated programs and physical resources in the nation, and people who care about teaching. The scale and walkability of the campus tend to bring students, faculty, and administrators together, as their paths crisscross during the day. The campus is renowned for the variety of trees and plantings that signal the change of seasons. One year before Appalachian's founding, conservationist John Muir stood here and likened the view to standing "in the face of all heaven come to earth."
