Diversity at ASU

Appalachian values a diverse student population, faculty, and staff because this diversity generates a multiplicity of ideas and viewpoints, leads to more creative and efficient problem solving, fosters an understanding and acceptance of individuals from different backgrounds, and recognizes the contributions that a variety of individuals and groups can make.

Appalachian's Office of Diversity is committed to increasing diversity among students, faculty and staff. As part of this commitment, the Office of Diversity implements the diversity strategic plan and the faculty retention and recruitment plan, serves on the University Diversity Council, and hosts the annual Diversity Celebration.
