Art Galleries

Appalachian’s own Turchin Center for the Visual Arts is the largest facility of its type in the region. The Center is committed to exhibition, education, and outreach programs in the visual arts, and features exhibitions focusing on a blend of new and historically important artwork, as well as many of the region’s finest artists. The Center’s spectacular gallery spaces, studios, and outdoor sculpture gardens provide a dynamic setting for the viewing and enjoyment of art, and the Center is also devoted to teaching and the exploration of the visual arts through such initiatives as the Community Art School and a strong connection to the university’s highly acclaimed Department of Art.

Other campus art galleries include the Catherine Smith Gallery located in Farthing Auditorium and the Looking Glass Gallery located in the Plemmons Student Union.
